ALL THE FAMILY FUN AT MONTEBELLO WITH CHATEAU MONTEBELLO AND PARC OMEGA

DO YOU HAVE PLANS FOR MARCH BREAK FOR THE WHOLE FAMILY

Do you plan for family vacations and family activities ahead of time?

With your time being so stretched these days, from childcare to work to everyday chores and all other responsibilities, it’s easy to find yourself caught by surprise that another long weekend is just around the corner and you have absolutely no plans whatsoever.

ALL THE FAMILY FUN AT CHATEAU MONTEBELLO FOR MARCH BREAK AND ALL YEAR ROUND

Sometimes, having no plans is the greatest luxury of them all. But when you have children and they have a massive amount of free time coming up, like March Break for instance, you definitely want something planned out.

While going away down South is a fabulous idea, we don’t always have the 7 days or so to get away.

But don’t despair, there are plenty of great ideas closer to home. Did you know that Fairmont Le Chateau Montebello is, in fact, more than just a hotel?

It’s a full resort with a plethora of activities that are offered to hotel guests all year round.

WELCOME TO THE WORLD RENOWNED FAIRMONT LE CHÂTEAU MONTEBELLO

In case you haven’t stayed at Fairmont Le Chateau Montebello yet, let me tell you about its beautiful history.

If you have been, I’m sure you will agree it’s such a grand time and if you haven’t been, you must go immediately!

While we recommended staying at least a night (surely better if you can stay longer), you can also visit Chateau Montebello for plenty of activities perfect for the whole family.

Fairmont Le Chateau Montebello is renowned the world over.  A famed treasure in the National Capital Region, the Chateau Montebello is a site rich in history and tradition as well as an architectural feat.

Constructed night and day and 7 days a week in 1930, this Outaouais hotel and resort was the dream of a Swiss-American named Hubert Saddlemire. Hubert was inspired by the châteaux of the Swiss Alps and originally dubbed the Chateau Montebello the “Lucerne-in-Québec.”

FAIRMONT LE CHÂTEAU MONTEBELLO: LARGEST LOG CABIN IN THE WORLD

A true architectural marvel at that time (and still is to this day), it rapidly became known as one of the prime luxury resorts in Quebec and throughout Eastern Canada. For 40 years, the log château was the private retreat of the Seigniory Club, whose elite membership included reputable Canadian businessmen and politicians, including some of Canada’s known Prime Ministers. That prestige has continued on until this day as the Fairmont Le Château Montebello has been the venue of many an international gathering hosting foreign presidents and dignitaries such as the G7 and the North American Leaders Summit.

As a matter of fact, there’s a wall of fame where you can see photos of important events and dignitaries and world leaders who have previously stayed at this Quebec-based Fairmont hotel.

FROM VISITING WORLD LEADERS TO OUT OF THIS WORLD CULINARY DELIGHTS

Today, this luxury hotel attracts visitors from across Canada and around the world – all year round.

As soon as you walk into the grand lobby, with its massive star attraction – the highly photographed 66-foot, 6-sided fireplace- regally situated right in the centre, you instantly feel that you’re not in just another hotel.

There are plenty of fantastic dining options within the most spectacular and largest log cabin of the world. Aux Chantignoles, winner of the 2018 Diner’s Choice Award by OpenTable, boasts of a stunning view of the river and the lush chef’s garden, we feasted on a fabulous breakfast buffet that featured a lot of local ingredients. Since brunch is life, you may have noticed one too many brunch flatlay photos that we have posted all over our @20YS social media channels.

And who can blame us? Just like the lunch buffet, breakfast and brunch feature a wide variety of options. The appetizer section alone features fresh soups and Quebec cheeses, fresh and cured fishes, meats and vegetables. While the main courses for lunch has a great selection of delicious pasta, meat, fish and lovely vegetarian options, brunch features an omelette station.

CHATEAU MONTEBELLO DINING OPTIONS

While everything was a gastronomic treat, the dessert section seems to always be the star attraction. The pièce de résistance is the classic French Canadian favourites such Tarte Au Sucre (Sugar Pie) and bread pudding with a light or generous pour of maple syrup and a dollop of crème Anglaise. Go for the warm maple syrup, for an elevated culinary experience with this golden syrup from the gods.

ALL THE FAMILY FUN AT CHATEAU MONTEBELLO FOR MARCH BREAK AND ALL YEAR ROUND

Since Fairmont Le Chateau Montebello is a hotel resort, it comes with a huge list of Resort Fee inclusions, including access to the Chateau’s indoor pool – one of the most iconic pools in the entire region.

As we visited during the winter, here’s a list of very Canadiana activities available to guests:

  • Skating
  • Cross country skiing
  • Curling
  • Snowshoeing
  • Nature trail
  • Dog sledding
  • Swimming

A huge bonus that we absolutely must mention – all of the equipment you need for these winter activities are provided for. All you need to do is head to the rental house to get the ones that are perfect for your size and needs.

When you go, make sure to attend the curling clinic!

Though we were not able to do some curling and dog sledding, we did have an amazing time trying out the skating rink. For the most epic PRO skating (Not!), check out this hilarious video of my shameful performance on the ice.

While skating was clearly not my forte, meeting the dog sledding team was more my cup of tea.

We had the sweet opportunity to meet the very friendly Alaskan Huskies and of course, get a couple of selfies!

UNIQUE WAY TO MEET WILD ANIMALS IN THEIR NATURAL HABITAT

A wildlife park like no other, Omega Park is a wildlife park, not a zoo, where can meet the wild animals in their own natural habitat.

A different kind of experience to immerse yourself in wildlife and nature. A very unique concept to discover the fauna, history, heritage and different culture of Canada’s First Nations in the area.

Only about 1 hour away from Ottawa and Montreal, Parc Omega is an enchanting landscape where animals and history cohabit in an entirely natural and beautiful environment.

GET UP CLOSE AND PERSONAL FROM THE COMFORT OF YOUR OWN CAR

Open all year all year round, you can get up close and personal to these animals, right from the comfort of your own car.

Drive though the 15-km trail, which winds its way through a stunning wildlife park with forests and hills, valleys and lakes. You can listen in to FM 90.1 on your radio for more information on the animals such as moose, elk, bison, wolves, bears, black bears, deer, beaver, elk, snowy owls, arctic fox and many more!

With both the wild animals and its natural habitat, Parc Omega is an absolute photographer’s paradise.

In fact, I know a lot of photographer and influencer friends who head to Parc Omega precisely for the photo opportunities.

Plus, it is such a tremendous hit amongst kids who have the most fun feeding carrots to some of the animals.
