Walking cities amazes me. Cities like New York, Paris, London, and perhaps even Montreal, seem to have been designed by forward thinking urban planners with traveling on foot (in style!) in mind. Perpetuated by many movies and TV shows like Friends, Seinfeld and Sex and the City, New York especially seems like a city where you can from Point A to Point Anywhere really with just walking. And obviously, in the case of Carrie Bradshaw, in towering sky high stilettos, obvs.

Ottawa, in my observation, is more of a bike city. Roads have been restructured to pave way for velos of all shapes and sizes but walking city, it is not. Sure, downtown walking is a bit of an exception but you can get from Orleans to Kanata or from Barrhaven to Westboro by foot.
On the other hand, Montreal ‘appears’ to be more accessible by walking as long as you have got the proper footwear.
