I love plaid. I think plaid is perfect for winter, don’t you? I can’t think of a better pattern more suited for this tundra that’s called Canada. Let’s get one thing straight – when it comes to fashion vs. function when the temperature dips below zero, I always go for warmth and comfort. No matter how much I love clothing and fashion and putting it all nicely together, I reach out for my UGG Boots way too often that I do my suede knee highs and my ankle booties. (p.s. Don’t you just love that sign on the window?)
Okay maybe I used to. When I was younger.
IT’S A PLAID PLAID WORLD: WHY PLAID IS PERFECT FOR WINTER!
“MAKE TODAY SO AWESOME, YESTERDAY GETS JEALOUS.”
IT’S A PLAID PLAID WORLD
I mean who didn’t frolicked around in the snow in teeny tiny tank tops and skimpy mini skirt with sky high stilettos when they were 18? But times have changed… I no longer go for the pretty yet impractical trench coats in my closet. Instead, I wrap myself in Thinsulate winter-proof shapeless parka and hide my face in shame that I’m not putting more effort in looking chicer and more sophisticated in the winter.

PLAID WORLD: I LOVE PLAID EVERYTHING
But! I found the perfect winter style hack… the plaid oversize blanket scarf! In fact, anything plaid is perfect for the cold season. From the cool crisp air in October to the hearty Christmas fire in December all the way to the winter wonderland that is January and February, plaid is the perfect fabric (note that plaid typically refers to a pattern of a fabric or traditionally, checkered or tartan twilled cloth, typically made of wool with origins from the Scottish Highlands, amongst others) for “Baby, it’s cold outside.” Plaid is immediately attractive, especially with the right colour combination. It’s effortless and most of the time, it is ultra warm and cozy.

WHY PLAID IS PERFECT FOR WINTER
Just take this outfit I wore during the Le Chateau Spring Preview in Montreal at the Old Port… plaid is just so instantly cool that topping my camel coat from Le Chateau with this double-sided plaid and hounds-tooth oversized blanket scarf (From Maison Simon’s on sale!) makes it feel warm and thoughtfully put together! The world’s love for plaid goes beyond fashion and apparel evidently. Just look everywhere, from your living room to the bedroom and from wedding venues to wedding cakes! I mean look at these absolutely brilliant tartan bridesmaid’s dresses… It’s literally a plaid, plaid world!
Btw, did you know that the meaning of the Gaelic word plaid is “blanket”.
It’s a plaid plaid world… err.. wedding via Rustic Wedding Chic.
See… here at Twenty York Street, you come for the fashion, you stay for the wisdom! So, tell us, do you love plaid for winter too?
