One look at my closet would immediately tell you, I have a big bias towards dresses. For a number of reasons obviously. The first being, it’s fast and easy. There is no need to figure out what top matches with which bottom or if this bold print would go with that bright colour. A dress is an entire outfit made for you, especially when you’re in the go.
HAVE YOU EVER BEEN IN A STYLE RUT?
That’s why for years, they have been a go-to outfit in my closet, my personal fashion uniform and they’ve never failed me. Yet, they haven’t also quite challenged me lately. I feel that I’ve been on a style rut recently and that I’m stuck to a fail safe method of dressing up, just like how Canadian author Maragaret Atwood described Kate Middleton’s style – uninspired (which apparently, Atwood took her words back) and lacking and personal character (which I tend to agree with the eternally dressed in black Author but do hold your horses, I do love the Duchess’ sense of fashion and have followed her since the Royal Couple’s very first visit to Ottawa, Canada for Canada Day), so I feel like I need to spice things up a bit. After all, safe can sometimes mean boring and who wants to be boring?
Certainly not I.

SKINNY JEANS AND FAUX-FUR
The Annual Easter Brunch at the Sucrerie a la Montagne in Rigaud, Quebec provided the perfect opportunity for me to try a non-dress ensemble with my favourite ripped skinny jeans from Banana Republic (they are oh so comfortable!), my new floral watercolour top from R&W and Co. and my faux-fur black vest from ALDO. Topping things off with my bedazzled beanie, blue-lens aviators from Express and current fave gold and turquoise earrings from Park Lane, it came together to one of my favourite casual weekend outfit – ever!

WHAT’S YOUR FASHION UNIFORM?
I’m loving this look big time (the Park Lane Filigree earrings gives the element of glam on this casual combo, don’t you think?) that I plan to try more of this type of combination. Though I’m not saying I’m saying goodbye to my dresses because to be honest with you, there are times when I don’t mind safe and boring.
What about you, what’s your fashion uniform?
