Ever since I came back from that big glorious trip we took down to Florida and the Caribbean, it has been one frantic and hectic season for the city and for very good reasons. Despite what you would imagine Ottawa to be in the dead of winter, there are surprisingly a big number of exciting things happening in the capital. Chief amongst them is, of course, the hotly anticipated opening of the US retail giant NORDSTROM. Everywhere I go to these days, especially when it involves fashion and shopping, there is one question that I have been asked, consistently.
So, what/who are you going to wear to the (already and completely SOLD OUT) NORDSTROM Gala.

A question which, to be honest with you, sends me to a panicked dread that I have literally been thinking about this everyday. The pressure. Fortunately, we’ve had the privilege to attend the NORSTROM and Ottawa At Home Winterlude Fashion Show, a collaboration between the boutique retailer and the National Capital Commission to inject a lot of fashion into one of winter’s hottest events (see runway photos here by Ottawa’s MASHAELL PHOTOGRAPHY). Since the fashion presentation was all about spring fashion, there lots of floral and bright colour inspiration to choose from.

Furthermore, our good fortune does not end there as we recently received a sweet surprise package in the mail from NORDSTROM Ottawa. It will feature a pressure-free play bar, hot trends zone and will carry mini beauty must-haves, products that are smaller than retail size but bigger than sample sizes so you could actually try out the products substantially before fully committing to purchasing the full sizes. It`s luxury at its best as the Beauty Department will also have a trusted concierge who does not work on commission but will direct you to what will work best for you. As mentioned above, the list of top beauty brands that NORDSTROM Rideau Centre will carry is to die for and walking in into the Beauty Department will be tantamount to a beauty junkie`s Disneyland.
