Do you remember when Mr. BIG got down on one knee and proposed to Carrie (nee Bradshaw) presenting her with, not a diamond engagement ring, but a diamond encrusted regal blue Manolo Blahnik right in the middle of her massive custom-made walk-in closet? How fairy tale like was that cinematographic moment that will be forever etched in our collective memory?
LE CHATEAU AND AFTER THE BALL FASHION COLLABORATION
Well, this story is not about that exactly but, in some ways, is also a version of a fairy tale for me personally. Last year when I had the opportunity to be the Brand Ambassador for Le Chateau, I was informed firsthand about a fashion-focused movie called AFTER THE BALL. To be starred by Canada’s Lauren Holly and of course, Mr. BIG (Chris Noth), the movie is about a young aspiring fashion designer played by Portia Doubleday.
I have been keeping my eye open for updates on the movie and have been shopping the collection at the Le Chateau (which is the exclusive retail store that designed and provided the entire wardrobe for the cast and believe me, the fashion is to die for!) way before the movie is set to open in theatres.

Little did I know fast forward to a few months later, I was going to be featured as one of CANADA’S TOP FASHION BLOGGERS in the very popular and influential online publication SHE DOES THE CITY, as part of their special series on AFTER THE BALL. As you can see from the list of mega popular and uber stylish fashion bloggers outlined below, I’m indeed in great company. It is such an honour to be featured and be recognized for something we’ve worked so hard for.

She Does The City: When trying to break into the fashion industry, what’s the best way to make a first impression?
Marilou Moles: While I completely agree with all the bloggers featured in the After The Ball series that you should find a niche and be yourself, I also strongly believe in one more thing in order to stand out. Steve Martin once said, you have to be so good they can’t ignore you. Like with any industry, you need to put in hard and quality work to break through.
How does one figure out their own unique style? Is it something that you can work on?
Oh absolutely! Our own unique style is constantly evolving depending of where we’re at in life. There’s a lot of factors that shape our style and it’s in fact exciting as we get to try different things in order to determine our personal style.
After The Ball is a modern day fashion fairytale. If someone asked you to describe your Fairytale Fashion story, what would it be?
Having a fashion and lifestyle blog at the nation’s capital is already a modern day fashion fairytale as you have access to all these beautiful fashion and you have all these incredible festivals and galas to go to. But if I can dream bigger, I would love to collaborate with a renowned designer/brand to have a capsule collection and… get married in a custom haute couture wedding gown in a fairytale-style setting.

As a true blue fashion lover and admittedly a hopeless romantic, I cannot wait to go and see AFTER THE BALL. It’s all about dreaming big and making it happen in the fashion industry and of course, all that beautiful pieces from Le Chateau. We’re excited, how about you?
