As I’m counting the days and the hours before boarding our plane to the sunny state of Florida, I’m also in the midst of preparing all my last minute trip necessities. Shopping and packing is, of course, on top of the list but there’s also the require beauty ritual that one must do in order for one to be ready for a grand holiday. I don’t why one talks in the third person at this point but forgive me but I think I really am going cray cray with everything I have to get done before we board that Carnival Cruise Line bound for Eastern Caribbean.
As I mentioned before in my MICRO PEDI post, the harsh elements of winter has been terrible on our skin, hair and body, including our hands and fingers. The sub zero temperature, the cold outside, hot inside situation can make our finger nails weak. The sad result? Like heels that have started to crack and peel, our hands and fingers have also become unsightly, unhealthy and generally dry and withered.
THE BUSY (LAZY) GIRL’S GUIDE TO A QUICK MANI: TRY THE EMJOI MICRO-PEDI
Since I literally have less than 48 hours to board the Sunwing Plane to Paradise, Emjoi’s Micro-Nail is proving to be a life saver. For the little time I have left, I was actually able to use this handy little gadget to buff and smooth away rough edges on my nails. The whole process took about 10 minutes for both hands, which surprisingly gave me such clean and soother looking nails.
MICRO-NAIL’S 360 DEGREES OF SPINNING ROLLER
Pros: Like the Micro-Pedi, the Micr-O-Nail has a rolling head that rotates at a rate of 30 times per second. If you don’t have time to go to the nail salon, the Micr-O-Nail handheld device is an effective and safe way to have salon-like results – in the comfort of you own home. One of the pros is that the roller has no sharp edges,so you don’t risk cutting your cuticles or your finger. It just rolls so fast to buff the rough areas on your nail bed. It is battery operated (you need 2 AA batteries, which are not included) and it is portable so you can use it in the bathroom, bedroom or living room. Quick tip: put a towel or paper towel underneath to catch all the ‘white shavings’ of your nails.
MICR-O-NAILED IT: THE BEFORE AND AFTER
The photo below is a close-up shot of the BEFORE mani. Though it’s not as bad, it clearly can use a portable gadget like this, especially if I’m going to be on board a ship for 8 days without access to a nail spa. As you keep buffing, the ‘shavings’ of your nails fall off and it slowly reveals a smoother, shinier looking nails.
Cons: While you can definitely see the difference in the BEFORE and AFTER photos (see below for the post Micr-o-nail shots), it certainly does not replicate or replace a full mani service at a nail spa or nail salon. But for someone who has no time or is always on the go, this is just the perfect thing to have in your beauty arsenal.
If you do a quick check of the result, the whole nail is smoother even after one use. I know you’re not supposed to use this to trim cuticles but I tried to just to see what happens and even more surprise, it actually ‘pushes’ the cuticles to reveal a cleaner look.
The rolling head does need to be replaced after some time. Replacement heads are available at many retail stores like Shoppers Drug Mart, Target, Costco or The Shopping Channel and they are not expensive at all. If you have such a busy lifestyle or you’re always on the go or if you’re heading to a get-away, the MICR-O-NAIL may just be THE ONE for you as our Busy Girl’s Guide to the Beautiful Nails – Fast!
