It’s sub zero outside. It’s inhumanely cold to be prancing and strutting around in your cocktail dress and high heels but the fact is, life continues despite this frigid winter. The fact is, you need to get up and get dressed to go to work. We, Canadians don’t shutdown and stop all the festivities just because Mother Nature decided to turn Canada into one giant snow globe.
OTTAWA FASHION: HOW TO GET DRESSED FOR A PARTY DURING THE WINTER
In fact, we have parties like the world famous Ottawa Winterlude coming up this January to February, geared specifically towards winter activities. So, what does Ottawa Fashion look like in the winter?
LITTLE BLACK DRESS WITH A TWIST
Well, if you are a fan of the timeless classic Little Black Dress (the LBD), I’d say fashion is pretty much the same. Let’s not mention that this LBD is, of course, underneath layers and layers of fleece, wool and gortex along with doubles of everything, scarves, gloves and socks. Nevertheless, fashion must go on and in Ottawa, we don’t know no Polar Vortex when it comes to Fashion Shows as there’s actually an upcoming one that I’m quite thrilled about.
NORDSTROM – OTTAWA AT HOME FASHION SHOW AT THE WINTERLUDE
Nordstrom, the giant US retailer is officially opening in Ottawa on March 16, 2015, has partnered up with Ottawa At Home Magazine and the National Capital Commission to produce a fashion show at the Ottawa Congress Centre (which I was told has recently changed its name to The Shaw Centre, true?) in conjunction with the 2015 Winterlude Festivities. Another #OUATAOUAISFUN. Exciting, yes?
