When asked – what is your favourite (physical) feature about yourself – I never have to think twice about the answer. Though I am fiercely proud of my sets of pins, they are rather strong for someone who is barely 5’3; I would have to say I love my hair most. Unlike my weight or my skin, my hair is constant; it does not fluctuate with the season, the weather or any other external factors. It is low maintenance and is always long, straight, healthy and shiny. Well, for the most part.
Lately, I’ve noticed that my strands were not at its optimal state, they were scraggly and the tips were terribly dry. Though I recognize that it is partly my fault as I have not been to a hair salon for months, my hair has grown way past my waist and without regular trims, it is neither healthy nor shiny.
It was nothing but perfect timing then when Mr. Fadi Ghaby mentioned one of SKYFALL BLUE’S newest clients – the Pierino Scarfo Hair Salon. With two locations in Ottawa, a quick search on Pierino Scarfo will tell you that they have been Ottawa’s Best Hair Salon and Ottawa Best Hairdressers. I was absolutely excited to find out that they had an opening for me and not just any other opening but a chance to get a cut by the salon’s Owner and Master Hairdresser himself – Pierino Scarfo.

Established in 2003, the first salon and spa in Bells Corners Ottawa was opened to the public with a mission to provide services that contributes to overall well-being of their clients aside from obviously making them look beautiful outside, they also aimed to make them feel beautiful inside. Fast forward to 2011, a second location opened in the Westboro area with a slightly different aesthetic feel. KERASTE SHAMPOO AND HAIR MASK
Greeted with warm and friendly welcome by the salon staff, I was treated to a lovely cup of cappuccino just before my wonderful shampoo and luxurious Kerastase hair mask by Cindy. In fact, each guest has a profile in the salon that indicates their history and product preferences but it also notes their beverage of choice. With a reputation of being leaders in the hair industry, all Pierino Scarfo staff is highly trained and receives continuous education via workshops and courses. Pierino himself is a multi-award winning veteran in the hair and hair care industry with recent recognition from FACES’ FABIO Awards.
GIVE THE GIFT OF HEALTHY HAIR WITH PIERNO SCARFO
The haircut itself with Pierino was fast and precise. I just had to say I wanted long layers and to bring back the brilliance and shine to my hair. Though it made me extremely nervous when he said he needed to take off at least 6 inches of hair, which sounds like an awful lot, he did assure me that there is plenty left and there isn’t point of hanging on to unsightly, almost dead hair. Well, he didn’t quite say it like that, it was a very professional matter of fact statement, which I have loosely translated to, get your pretty face into the salon on the regular as though you may think long hair is low maintenance, it doesn’t mean you can skip trims all together.
As you can see from the above spoiler alert photo, I love my new cut. The long layers did feel like he hit a refresh button and there’s that bounce and shine to my locks again. Though I wish I did have time to try out the ombré hair colour treatment along with strategic highlights and lowlights – that may just be my next appointment at Pierino Scarfo.
