WE’RE ON TV: CTV MORNING LIVE WITH TREND REPORT ON 5 FALL FASHION TRENDS 2014

CTV 3

Now that summer months have come to a close, sadly, we have time to reflect on the trends that we will see on the streets for the next season. Whether it’s bold new silhouettes, or experimentation with new materials and comeback of trends like whimsical animal prints and the staying power of sportswear, we’re so excited about the many possibilities for months ending in BER – September, October, November and December. Of the Best 15 trends identified as this year’s hottest trends for fall, we went to CTV Morning Live armed with reputable fashion brands like Nella Bella by Tarek, HKR Collections from Montreal, Lia Sophia, Skechers, Banana Republic and Express, to share with host Lianne Laing and CTV Ottawa viewers our FASHION TREND REPORT ON 5 FALL FASHION TRENDS 2014:

THE WARM AND THE FUZZY: SHEARLING AND FUR

It wouldn’t be fall without a bevy of plush furs. This season, designers cozied up to cuddly shearling. Think Miuccia Prada’s color-blocked coats and Sacai’s Chitose Abe’s statement-making Mongolian-lamb biker jacket.

50 SHADES OF GREY: GREY ALL THE WAY

There are times for black and there are times for white but when both feel overdone, try a colour that’s a happy medium of both. If you see head to toe on the runway, soften it for everyday wear. Add a hint of cheer with rich violets, greens, and yellows.

SPORTS AND SNEAKS: SPORTSWEAR

Your feet can rejoice because they are officially getting a break. Like last season, sneakers have been declared as the footwear of the moment. Combined with sportswear-inspired pieces, it’s sexy and chic in an athletic kind of cool.

PRINTED: THE NOVELTY OR GRAPHIC PRINTS

Print isn’t going anywhere. Think mashed up trippy, tribal or ethnic and op art motifs. If you’re more of a nature lover, opt for adorable print like cute puppies.

SWEAT IT OFF: SWEATER DRESSING

Knitwear once again claimed more runway real estate this fall. Think big and go for prodigious cowl-neck top or fisherman’s cardigans and skirt. Why not add cozy pants? Remember, the sweater is no longer relegated to just the top half of your outfit.

What about you, what’s your fave fashion trend this fall?
