It’s summertime and the living is easy, right? Well, not so fast my friends. Summertime is actually one of the busiest times of the year for us. The city has never been busier with endless galas, events, music festivals and marathons that every week and all the way up to the weekend is completely booked with activities.
Every time I receive a special invitation to attend an event, I still have this feeling of disbelief on how I get to be this fortunate. We had the pleasure and honour to be invited to the 2nd Annual Ottawa River Keeper River Gala, which was celebrated at the Museum of Civilization, followed by a floating party on the Ottawa River aboard the Empress of Ottawa. We were also invited to United Way Ottawa’s CBA Awards Gala (#uwott) and on May 30th, I once again reprise my role as the judge of the Shoecase Competition at Dress For Success’ Annual Stepping Out event.
Most of the time, someone asks me, how do you get invited to all these events? While there is no black and white answer to this question, there is no doubt hard work is a very important element to this. We’ve worked hard to make this “blog” (in quotation because honestly, Twenty York Street has always been more than just a blog) what it is today, relevant and useful to its readers and that’s probably why we’ve earned our way to be front and centre to these beautiful events.
I feel incredibly lucky to be thought of and included in these wonderful opportunities including being on TV on a regular basis to showcase products, services and brands I believe in. We just had another opportunity to showcase top trends on summer shoes at Daytime Ottawa and we featured gorgeous and summer perfect shoes from ALDO, Express (and this beautiful easy breezy ikat print blue dress!) and ECCO Shoes Canada. Stay tuned for that!
In the meantime, here’s to another lovely weekend full of summer fun!
