For three years in a row, there is one very special event that I’ve been invited to that I can never turn down. It is one of those offers that you just cannot refuse. Every year, I have been invited to be the honoured judge at the now very infamous shoe competition portion of the Stepping Out event, Dress for Success Ottawa’s only official annual fundraiser.
An evening ofglitz, glamour, and fabulous footwear that raises the necessary funds for a number of DFS Ottawa programs, Stepping Out is an evening that combines philanthropy, fashion, and fun. On May 30th, from 7:30 pm on (VIP Reception starts at 5:30 pm), the city once again will take a pause to celebrate one worthy cause – the Dress for Success Ottawa’s 4th annual fundraiser at LAGO Bar and Grill, which, based on these photos from last year’s Stepping Out event, promises to be one of the hottest parties in Ottawa this spring.
Aside from the silent auction and non-stop giveaways, one of the main highlights of the evening is their annual signature event. Back by popular demand, the Stepping Out Shoecase Competition is fierce as ever!
If selected by one of the judges throughout the evening, chosen guests are given the chance to strut their stuff on the catwalk to take the top prize and best prize in the following 3 categories:
1. Best Ladies Shoe
2. Best Men’s Shoe
3. Best DIY Shoe*
The Annual Stepping Out Shoecase Judges:
1. Marilou Moles, blogger and founder of Twenty York Street. 20YS Twenty York Street is a Fashion & Lifestyle Blog on latest trends in fashion, beauty & events in Canada. Twitter : @20YS
2. K Jay, Hot 89.9 DJ. Listen to K Jay every Saturday & Sunday night, and tune in Saturday nights as she hosts The Saturday Night HOT Mix! Twitter : @KJay_Hot899
3. To be announced – Stay Tuned!
The funds raised at Stepping Out benefit Dress for Success Ottawa, a registered Canadian charity founded in 2011 by a group of seven (mostly volunteer) Ottawa women and has been successfully run since that time with the help of hundreds of remarkable volunteers. This cause is dear to Twenty York Street, many of DFS Ottawa’s clients are single mothers, victims of abuse, new Canadians or of aboriginal decent.
BIG THANK YOU to Mrs. Marlene Floyd, Founding Chair of DFS Ottawa and the entire amazing team for Stepping Out (Emily B., Emily P., Joelle, Sandra, Carmen and many more) and to all valued volunteers who make this evening such a memorable and worthwhile one.
Special THANK YOU to Mr. Greg Kolz for all the Photos of #STEPPINGOUT 2013
