Confession of a Fashion and Style Blogger – winter is NOT an easy season to dress for. As much as it would be nice to say, I have a fashion blog so I’m well averse in the world of fashion, I can get myself outfitted chicly and stylishly at any season, all season. The truth is, that’s just not true.
Canadian winters are true test of strength and endurance, literally. It’s one thing to just get through the winter unscathed; it’s another to get actually get dressed with more than just a parka as trust me, in Ottawa it gets really, really cold. One thing that’s an absolute staple? Warm tights or leggings that make up as your warm protective undergarments are absolute must haves. I have yet to find a fleeced lined good looking one but on to the search.
One of the major ways to stay stylish this winter is to choose outerwear with a bit more personality. Since most of the time, you don’t even want to take off your jacket, its best to think of your outerwear as statement pieces rather than just something that keeps you warm. My current favourite? The Plaid Invasion! Like most of you, I cannot get enough plaid in everything! I even have cozy pretty blankets from Pendleton. Staying away from the regular black coats and grey jackets, opt for more handsome colours and prints like red, yellow and green in plaid or stripes and try to go for unusual cuts like asymmetrical neckline, collar or hemline.

The good news is – this may be the best time to go shopping for winter wear right now! Sales are massive as stores just want to get rid of last year’s inventory in time for their fiscal year end. More good news – we have lots of exciting posts coming up this week including an adventure at Canada’s Ice Hotel in Quebec City and Road Trip Fun with Ford Fiesta to the Montreal International Auto Show and of course, another installation of the Build Better Blogs series!
Stay tuned and happy Week to you all!
