It’s the most wonderful time of the year! Indeed it is as the merriment of Christmas gives way to the excitement of the New Year, this stupendous feeling extends all the way to the first month of the year – January! Despite the inhumane frigid temperature this side of the world, January is more than the first month in the calendar, it’s like Spring – only it’s really undoubtedly Winter – a season of renewal, of new hope and a sense of starting over, no matter how the past year went by.

The past year for Twenty York Street as @20YS has been more than fabulous! We’ve been published, featured, interviewed, highlighted, shouted out to many, many times not only in radio, TV (Daytime Ottawa, CTV Ottawa Morning Live, CJOH TV) and print (newspaper and magazines) locally but also on national media. I mean front page of the Ottawa Citizen has been nothing short of amazing, thank you Ms. Janet Wilson!

Aside from the many online media mentions and the exclusive invitations by huge global brands like FORD and FORD CANADA, BMW and H&M, we’ve been on CBC, both radio and TV, multiple times this year for many interviews and special series and although one subject in particular is about the sad tragedy that is Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines, most of these TV and radio appearance is about our main passion here at Twenty York Street: style and fashion.

I couldn’t have done this without all of your support! My spectacular family, friends, interns, colleagues, clients, fellow bloggers, my photographers, my new writer and amiga Gabriela, my Bestie @whiteaspearl aka PEARLY CAKES or , SKYFALL BLUE CEO Fadi Ghaby and those who call them my fans, my always supportive fans! I paid them to say that but hey, a girl’s gotta do what girl’s gotta do.

As I reflect on 2013 on a personal level, it has been quite a roller coaster of a year. We’ve succeeded and we’ve failed and I’m not quite sure if one is the latter is more than the former but I’d be amiss if I don’t recognize how incredibly lucky I am. We made it to Bali this year. B-A-L-I. Most people list Bali as a dream destination and once you get there, you’ll know exactly why. It is absolutely gorgeous in many ways. That trip was even more special as we got to spend time with family in the Philippines with a quick stop in Singapore. E, thank you for bearing with me through good times and bad.

I have met many incredible people and I don’t just mean incredible as they are celebrities (the Governor General Performing Arts Awards Gala was quite something and I have Arne Berg to thank for that and meeting Arlene Dickinson again with Sir Terry Matthews big thank you to Ms. Sam Hartley, was precisely noteworthy) but that they are inspiring agents of change. I have so many to be thankful for in Ottawa, the reception has been ultimately warm and generous towards me and though I try to do a lot of charity work through Twenty York Street, the love being sent back to me makes me want to pay it forward, ten thousand times more.

On that note, I really want to thank everyone (sorry I couldn’t list each of you by name) who was part of my life and journey this year. Twenty York Street is poised to ROCK it this year, it’s going be better, it’s going to be better! As I say goodbye to 2013 and hello to 2014, here’s my Top 5 Short and Sweet New Year’s Resolution:

1.      Be more daring. In many ways than one. And no Meloche, that does not include skinny dipping. Non merci!

2.      Be more adventurous. Visiting new places, trying new experiences and discovering new cuisines. Definitely more travel.

3.      Be more fit. More yoga, more dancing, more everything that makes me sweat and get lost in the moment.

4.      Be more consistent. In writing. In blogging. In taking pictures. In being more consistent.

5.      Be more kind. In love and in war. This one is very important to me. I think I need to love more. I think that’s really the only way one can win the battle, yes?

I am thankful. I am grateful. What about you, what’s your New Year’s resolution this year? Whatever they maybe, we are sending you wishes for good luck, love and peace!

XOXO,

@20YS
