@20YS HOLIDAY GUIDE 2013: TOP 5 PARTY PERFECT HAIR AND MAKE-UP THIS HOLIDAY

What better time to try out that new bold lip, super dramatic smoky eye or experimental French up do than this season of non-stop holiday parties! With a calendar full of social events (though if you do wish to stay in, we’ve compiled the TOP 5 Holiday Movies for you here) and each one calling for a different look – from formal to casual and from black tie to totally snow  cool, you have many opportunities to try different things out!

Here’s FIVE of Twenty York Street’s favourite hair make-up looks sourced from all over Pinterest, Instgram and the rest of the World Wide Web!

SPELL FUCHSIA

I personally think this colour is just as dramatic as red lips but it’s more forgiving as the application doesn’t have to be as precise. Mostly bright fuchsia lipstick matches different skin tones too! So if you are red lips averse like me, go for this pretty bold pinkish hue!

JUST ENOUGH DRAMA

When we say smoky eye, one immediately tends to think of dark kohls and black shadows when in fact, smoky eye make-up can use pretty much any colours. It’s more the art of blending and not a particular colour family. This neutral palette is perfect especially if you have to pull a Clark Kent from the office straight to the cocktail party!

And  if you are having a bad hair day, do put on a cool beanie or a holiday inspired toque like I did. It makes you… dare I say… cooler!

PANT THE TOWN RED

While I’m still in the unending search to find my true red, I can’t argue with the fact that this top glam look works very well for most women! Even dressed in sweatpants (But please don’t. At least not to a Christmas Party, unless it’s of course an Ugly Christmas Sweater Party), anyone can look instantly chic with a swipe of red lipstick.

ALL THAT GLITTERS IS GOLD

Now you can always throw your hair up for formal office parties – tease it and wrap a bow on it but sometimes, you just don’t have the time for all of that. If your hair tends to go on the straight side, don’t fight nature and just go with it! Go for a sleeker look and pair it with ultra shiny golds! You can never go wrong with gold – shadows, nails and well, pretty much all over!

IF LOOKS COULD KILL

Perhaps my absolute favourite from the runway this season: Dolce and Gabbana’s. The make-up was sharp, elegant, grown-up, but utterly wearable. A luminous look that is just so dreamy, keep the drama on the eyes and let it do the talking, all night long!

What’s your go to party look?
