As Christmas lights start to twinkle and stores are brighter and more festive with holiday presents and Christmas trees, ‘tis is the season to be merry.
It is the time to celebrate with friends and family over festive dinners and open presents by the Christmas tree, in the warmth and comfort of our homes. Unfortunately, not all of us have that privilege to be safe and warm as the reality is, some women and children are displaced or homeless right at this moment. They have just experienced tragic events in their lives that they are currently in the safe shelter at Harmony House and they need our help and support now more than ever.
How can you help?
How about gathering your friends together and attending the upcoming ANNUAL CHICKS’MAS SOCIAL EVENT? This year’s Chicks’mas Social will be filled with many of the same wonderful traditions every year: An intimate cocktail party filled with silent & live auctions, spotlight donations, swag bags for everyone that attends, door prizes and most especially, the opportunity to help Harmony House.
ABOUT CHICKS’MAS SOCIAL
Ever since Harmony House’s Fund Development Manager (and dear friend) Tracey Lafleche-Gainforth approached us about CHICKS’MAS, Twenty York Street has been a big supporter of this notable initiative. With a theme of fascinators to showcase your season’s best cocktail dresses and fabulous headpieces, the Chicks’mas Social has been uniting women from the Ottawa area to celebrate the gift of giving back. For 13 years, the annual “Girls Night Out’ charity event is about raising awareness and much needed funds for women and children affected by abuse. As the event gets bigger and better every year, this time the CHICKS’MAS SOCIAL will be held at the newly renovated and spacious ‘The Drink’ (130 George Street in the Market). All the evening fundraising efforts directly support Harmony House, a local women & children’s shelter fleeing from violent situations.
ABOUT HARMONY HOUSE
For over 25 years, Harmony House has been providing safe, affordable transitional housing for women and children who are survivors of violence. Chicks’mas in turn, for the last 13 years, has raised over $70,000 which has gone to support Harmony House’s core programming and specifically for their Family, Outreach and Advocacy programs – all crucial in helping women and children move into the Shelter.
An intimate cocktail party filled with silent & live auctions hosted by CTV Morning Live’s Lianne Laing, spotlight donations, swag bags for everyone that attends, door prizes and the opportunity to help Harmony House, a local charity in need – what could be a more perfect Christmas gift to give?
