If it was up to me, my birthday would be officially named as one of country’s statutory holidays. Yes, that means no one, absolutely not a single person, needs to go to work that day as we all need to celebrate and commemorate the very special day I was born into this world.

Vain, much?

Kidding aside, the start of April brings such instant joy to me as for one, it brings the promise of Spring. I think we can all agree that at this point, winter is sooo 2012! Mainly though, April is my birthday month and that excites me to no end!

My birthday provides me with yet another excuse to gather all my friends and family together, to eat, laugh and just have a good time. Wait, they need an excuse to do all that with me?

Let’s also not forget the sort of non self-less act of self-love I’m allowed to have on that day! It’s been one tough year, I can at least dream about these following Top 5 Birthday Wish List I’ve been pining on for so long!

MICHAEL KORS – THE HAMILTON

I know it’s as ambitious as wishing for a Prada or Louis Vuitton but hey, I think practicality is sexy. I need a purse big enough to carry E-VE-RY-THING, especially for my trip to Asia in a couple of weeks.

MICHAEL KORS STUDDED HAMILTON - YELLOW

p.s. If my generous gifter insists that I should have the studded version instead, I promise it will be an offer I cannot refuse.

Wait, did I mention I’m going to Bali?

I suppose I should stop right there. After all, that is one of the BIGGEST gifts I’ve ever received for myself. But hey, I don’t want to keep you guessing what the other 4 are!

RAY-BAN CLASSIC AVIATOR

 @20YS - RAY-BAN AVIATORS

I’ve always had one. Well, a version of one but never the real thing because of the price. I think at this day and age, I ought to sport the authentic one, yes? I find the Michael Kors gold-framed ones a sophisticated alternate but I think they are even more expensive so let’s cross our fingers for the Ray-Bans, shall we?

LULULEMON STUDIO PANTS

20YS - LULULEMON STUDIO PANTS

When I love something, I wear it to death or until one day, I never see it again. That’s what happened to my beloved NIKE dance pants, which were stolen during one of stays at a hotel in Montreal (Did I mention that my entire luggage was stolen?) and I hope this pair from Lululemon would be the perfect replacement.

NATIONAL ARTS CENTRE’S SEASON PASS

 NAC OTTAWA

If it weren’t for special events or for a special invitation by the NAC (Twenty York Street was invited to the premier of the Lord of the Rings, it was spectacular), I wouldn’t have gone to the National Arts Centre to either a enjoy a play, ballet or the orchestra last year as I’ve always been working. I regret that. I love music and the arts and I really hope this year, I can take the time to not only smell the roses but also enjoy an opera.

CLASSIC BURBERRY TRENCH COAT

20YS - BURBERRY TRENCH COAT

I know I’m really, really aiming high on this one so please note that I will settle for a similar looking alternate. I repeat, I am good with anything that kinda looks like this! Actually, I have my eye on this from Gap and that from Banana Republic, my usual shopping destinations however, I thought as a grown-up (tee-hee!), I have to upgrade my aspirations so Burberry it is!

But if you really must insist on something more grandiose than the ones listed above, I do have something else that I’d love for my birthday. It is a bit harder to wrap and put a pretty bow on top of it but it may just be well worth the effort! In addition to a lifetime supply of THANN

How about World Peace?

Happy Birthday to me!
