Spring Trend Alert: Sneaker Wedges

Seen on the ever-fashionable Anne Hathaway, Rihanna, Miranda Kerr and on the runway of Isabel Marant, sneaker wedges are kicks that are now making their way to the streets.

Essentially, they are high-top sneakers with a concealed heel to make your legs look great without the pain of heels. Around since last spring, sneaker wedges can now be found in a variety of colours and price points.

Our tips to make this trend work for you? Keep it flattering by pairing them with a slim-fit pant, legging or as seen above, distressed denim shorts in the summer. To keep the rest of the outfit proportionate, wear something along the lines of a boyfriend blazer with a longer top. Finish of by accessorizing it with a large-face watch and you’ll be set with the androgynous chic look.

Now the question remains to splurge or not to splurge? The choice is up to you but here are Ms. Janelle’s top picks for your best options at any price range:

Steal – Luxenee line

This fun pick comes in four colours; khaki, peach, cognac, and black. They have a 2.5 inch heel and a padded collar to help keep you going throughout the day. Find them at Call it Spring for $60.

SPRING Luxenee Line -Textile High Top in Cognac.

Splurge – ASH

ASH is a fashion-forward line incorporating French style with Italian craftsmanship, taking sporty looks and turning them chic. Styles can be found at Little Burgundy in the Rideau Centre priced between 185$ to 285$. Our favorite? The Dosilia style in Orange cream for a nice touch of pastel for Spring!

Deal – Jeffrey Campbell

Jeffrey Campbell’s version of the sneaker wedge is particularly nice because of its higher heal and patent design. Plus who can say no to a good sale? This patent pair is currently on sale at www.littleburgundyshoes.com for $122.49.
