Getting regular updates and new arrivals from my favourite stores may not always bode well for the pockets but they certainly spark creativity and takes you away, albeit briefly, to a place where you can imagine all the endless possibilities.
What’s trending at Twenty York Street these days?
Graphic Prints and All Thing Coloured!
Bottoms that is!
I have to admit, I do not have a single coloured pair of pants. Well, I did. It was bright green (far left below), specially imported from the Philippines. You seen, coloured jeans may be trending now in North America but it's a look that's already passé in Asia, four seasons ago.
J-Brand Jeans
So it's true when they say, time zone isn't the only thing ahead in that side of the world, fashion trends normally start seasons earlier too. Nevertheless, bold and fashion forward as the jeans were... I wasn't. I ended up keeping the tag on these crayola-coloured number, never wore them and ended up just giving them away.
What a sad day for fashion chutzpah.
Two spring trends combined: neon splashes + coloured jeans
Style ease: coloured jeans can be paired with booties, sandals, high heels or studded shoes
I vow, this Spring will be different. I shall conquer my fear - my fear of covering my bottoms with something other than black, blue or grey.
So, how to have your rainbow-shaded jeans and wear them too?
- Be smart. Don't overspend on trends. They may be HOT today but they will be gone tomorrow.
- Be bold. Black or white tops may be the easiest and the safest matches but why not pile on the colours?
- Be cool. Treat coloured jeans as neutrals, you can pair them with just about anything: laces, stripes, leather, etc.
- Be stylin'. Time to bust out the statement necklaces, the coral accessories, wide cuffs and pretty earrings.
- Be smilin'. Show your pearly whites for additional sparkle when your bottom is as bright as the warm yellow sun.
What trends will you be riding on this spring?

I love this post! I am hoping to find a pretty green pair and a cobalt blue pair. I only have one pair of colored pants- cranberry red and I hardly ever wear it. Now just might be the time! Thanks for visiting my blog!
ReplyDeleteI've liked the colored jeans trend for years but they were hard to come by! Got a purple pair in Greece 4 yrs ago, yellow pair in London 2 yrs ago, red jeans in the U.S. 5 yrs ago. SO glad they are everywhere now! It's fun to change up from the regular blue and black for spring and summer!

ReplyDeleteso what about men fashion?
ReplyDeleteThanks for the tips! I've been thinking about adding a pair to my wardrobe, but was scared of looking too young, ya know? Do you think there's an age limit to this trend?
ReplyDeleteTracy, just butting in :P I don't think there's an age limit, as long as the fit is right and it's paired with lower key colours and accessories :)
ReplyDeleteSo which colour will you be getting ML? Actually I RARELY see you in pants, do you even own a pair of jeans? ;)
ReplyDeleteI'm normally not one for crazy trends, particularly the ones that involve a lot of colour, but I've fallen hard for coloured denim - it's fun and surprisingly versatile! I think you'll find you really like it once you give it a try :)
ReplyDeletexox,
Cee
I actually want to go for the fuchsia pink one Elaine!
ReplyDeleteCan you believe it? =)
I completely agree!
ReplyDeleteNO age limit! And I think Fadi should know - men wear coloured jeans too!
Coming up right up!
ReplyDeleteJust for you Mr. THANN!
Hi ML! I'm with you on this one. I bought the Paige by OPI jeans in turquoise in 2009 and they hardly come out of the closet. And when they do it's with a safe black or white top. Time to get colourful!
ReplyDeleteI love colored jeans! If I can own every color I would!
